Results from Southwick
At
the Southwick stop of the AMA outdoor nationals, the racers came back fresh from
two weekends off. Mike Alessi grabbed the holeshot and managed to hold the lead
for five laps, before Dungey caught up and stole the lead. Dungey pulled away
and finished with Alessi in second and Tommy Hahn in third.
The second moto looked like much the same, with Dungey making his move to the lead
in the first lap. However, by the sixth lap, Dungey made a rare mistake,
getting cross-rutted in a high speed drop-off and went down, losing his petrol
cap in the process. Dungey remounted and retook the lead, but had to pit to
refuel on lap 13. From there, Kawasaki's Tyla Rattray took the lead, posting
his first 450 class moto victory. Dungey came in second and Alessi in third.
